The Simple Times
Here I am once again trying to sort out in my mind the differences between the simple times and the easier times. Sometimes our personal reflections yearn for the times that were simple and seemingly less complicated. But were they really so? Both phases of our generation have had difficult and trying times and experiences. In our younger years we had the Cold War and today we and our children are faced with the Global War on Terror. At least during the cold war we had a clear and defined enemy that could be identified by the uniform he wore, the plane he flew or the tank that was to cross the battlefields of Europe. One, a war based on the fear of nuclear holocaust and global domination. The other, a war of deeply embedded religious beliefs. This war, while often fought out in society or out of sight has been carried out for thousands of years. Today's conflict finds our brothers and sisters and sons and daughters spread out across the desert in an often hostile environment. We have no clear vision of our enemy, no clear line if embarkation. In most cases we operate day to day wondering just who the enemy is. We know they are fanatical and hide behind their beliefs, women and little children. They spread hate and fear among their own people and are cowards afraid to come out into the light. Our brothers and sisters patrol the streets and roads wondering who will strike out at them next. Will it be the man selling the Genuine Fake Rolex, the cab driver or the woman carrying her goods to the market? Never mind that probably 98% of these people are just like you and I. They are different from us in their beliefs, tradition and religion yet they are the same. They work all day and night trying to make a living and support their family. Their children go to school, the mall, movies and play soccer. It is the few that wish to destroy their society and more. The fanatics that should not be afforded any quarter. No trial, No Gitmo, No Publicity! They are a hazard to all society whether here in the desert or at home where YOU feel so safe. Show them no quarter here or they will be in YOUR town and at YOUR market spreading their hate and destruction. The anti-war protesters and liberals at home dont understand the fear and uncertainty that our brothers and sisters face everyday. They have no clue other than office politics what it is like to not know who your enemy is. They only know that it took too long to get their precious Starbucks. So while you sit at home and debate what you consider is right and wrong, we will continue to stand in the sand and defend the innocent and the weak. We will do it before we find them at our homes. We will do it carrying the great battle flag "DON'T TREAD ON ME" in our hearts and minds. We will do it for the innocent, our wives, mothers, brothers, sisters, children and our great country.
So, I sit here still filled with emotion realizing that while as subtly brutal the cold war was.....it was a simpler time. PEACE OUT!

The Hungry American
I sit here watching the news and listening to the plight of the American worker. I am wondering just how many of us are wondering where their next meal will come from. Just how many are wondering how to pay their electric bill much less their mortgage. I am not talking about BIG AMERICA, for we already know that they got their bills taken care of. I am talking about you and me! We work our ass off at the very least 40 hours a week. We work to support our families and pay the bills. Yet every payday there is something that does not get paid. These are not people that bought a $500,000.00 home on a 60,000.00 a year income. These are just plain regular folks like you and me. While the politicians say the billions tagged for Big America will help you and I, I stand to differ. Once again, we are the ones who will be paying in the end. I was not shocked in the least to find out that once the money was approved Big America was having parties and celebrating with YOUR dollar. Does Big America pay your bills? NO! There is nothing wrong with cutting back in our household budgets. I mean we all have. Store brands are looking a lot better than the name brands. Yes we have to have chicken instead of steak. For some of us Tuna helper is what is for dinner. So, Big America, while you are eating big and slapping backs remember us. The Simple American who is paying your bills! Enjoy!

Great American Bailout
I am just a simple American. I work hard and try to raise my family in today's trying times. I have a mortgage, two kids at home, 2 dogs and a frog. I would like to think I care about my neighbors and the other families in our country. Like most of us, I wonder just how much this bail out is going to cost us. No matter what other countries and people might think we do not have a never ending money tree in this country. Someone will pay for this Great American Bailout! That my friends will be you and I! No matter what our great leaders say, someone has to pay the bill. So, on top of paying YOUR mortgage and other bills you will be bailing out BIG AMERICA. I ask you, where is our lobbyist? Our congressmen, our state rep's whose pockets are lined by the Big Business Lobbyists? No....we are on our own. This bill is being presented as a way for Big Business on Wall Street to continue loaning money. What about us? What about the Simple American? We are the ones that spend the money that makes our economy run. How about paying our mortgages instead. Then WE as Americans could ensure that our great economy continues to turn by putting our money back into the systems. But no, our leaders choose to bail out the few! So while you, the Simple American are wondering if you are going to be the next victim, you can guarantee that Big America will be eating at the best restaurants and playing golf at the best clubs. They will do this because we have let them! The Blue Chips will still look down at us as the Small Investor, The Medium Income Household and the Poor! Yet we are the ones that will be paying their bill. So Big America, for taking all that you can get on the back of the Simple American, This No Name Beer Is For You!

The Frustration Continues
First of all let me tell you that I am just a pretty basic person. I do not feel that my needs are too complicated. I would however like to write and put my thoughts and expressions in writing.
Now, that is not to say that I expect a great deal of readers for I am most sure that my thoughts and feelings will be lost in the great complexities of the World Wide Web. However, there is that small chance that someone will visit and maybe get a smile or share the same outlook on our life as I do. Even if they don't, a good argument is always welcome.
